The Kalevala is Finland's National Epic, featuring stories from traditional Finnish and Karelian rune songs. These runolaulu (rune songs) were compiled by Elias Lönnrot into the Kalevala. These stories make up traditional Finnish folklore and mythology.

Ilmarinen: The Eternal Blacksmith – the forger of magical objects such as the Dome of the Sky and Sampo.

These three heroes travel through the lands of Kalevala, Pohjola (the Northlands), Tuonela (the Underworld), and other realms during their adventures in the Kalevala.
